Dear Parents

Welcome to Fauna Class!

Please find below our class’ key information.

The school day:  Please ensure that your child is well-prepared for school, with their home-school diary, reading book and labelled water bottle and suitably dressed for the weather. Please ensure a prompt arrival, as children begin working the moment that they enter the classroom.

If you have any questions, concerns or queries, please contact us via your child's home-school diary (ask your child to let us know there is a message) in the first instance and then via the school office.

Drinks/Snack/Lunch:  Please ensure your child has a named labelled water bottle in school every day for break and lunch times and a labelled packed lunch if required. An additional drink such as squash may be brought in for lunchtime only in their lunchbox.

Your child is welcome to bring their own fruit or vegetable snack, such as carrots or grapes, for morning break.

PE:  Year 4 PE days are Wednesday and Friday.

Please ensure your child comes to school on each of these days dressed in their PE kit. As we will be doing PE outside, tracksuit bottoms and trainers are recommended on colder damper days. Please ensure earrings are removed (or taped if newly pierced) before school on these days.

Times Tables: Year four will need to practise times tables to 12 for at least 50 minutes a week (little and often is best), in preparation for the Multiplications Tables Check (MTC). The test is expected early in the summer term. The children will need to learn their tables by heart and answer quickly. TT Rock Stars will be set as part of the year 4 homework, to help practise these and to chart progress.

Home learning:  In Year 4, children are expected to read a high-quality text daily. They shall be given this opportunity in school, but this should also be happening every day at home.

Spelling, Grammar and/or Maths learning will also be set via Purple Mash or in paper form most weeks*. Homework will be set midweek and expected to be returned before the following week.

Dates for return are stated or set.

* Some weeks we may want your children to focus on their reading or TT Rock stars times tables practise.

Curriculum: Please find our Year 4 curriculum below. Please encourage your children to talk about their learning in all subjects and feel free to supplement their knowledge and curiosity at home.

Thank you for all your help and support.
