Design Technology - “It’s through mistakes that you actually grow. You have to get bad before you can get good” - Pauler Scher, Graphic Designer
At St Pancras, Design and Technology is an inspirational subject. It promotes positivity, enthusiasm and enjoyment of learning. It aids creativity and resilience when learning how to use a variety of materials and equipment to solve technical problems and find solutions to create/design a finished model or prototype.
DT encourages children to be independent, imaginative and spirited thinkers, as individuals and as part of a team, involving cooperation explanation and discussion.
DT enables our children to identify needs and opportunities, and respond to them by developing a range of ideas. They will understand the process of cause and effect, and how to choose and use appropriate materials and equipment, leading to an end product fitting each child’s personal attainment level.
Through the study of Design and technology, they combine practical life skills, such as food health and preparation, safe use of tools leading to an understanding of basic industrial practices.
Our children will plan and evaluate their designs, improving through trial and error and persevering to produce a finished article.
