Environment Agency visit: Flooding

The Environment Agency team kindly spent the day in school working with the Key Stage two classes focusing on flooding and flood defences.

Each class watched a presentation about the work of the Environment Agency, the need for flood defences and flood defences in use in our local area, including the Ipswich Tidal Barrier. They also talked to the children about water safety and the importance of not climbing on the defences at Felixstowe.

The children then worked as a group to create a river, using sand as a bank and thought of the best place to build some flood defences, using construction materials to help.

Many thanks to Dave White and Paul Canham from the Environment Agency and Mrs McEvoy for providing us with this valuable contact.
